About Jaishree Misra

Jaishree Misra grew up between Delhi and Kerala and moved to England in 1990, when she was awarded a Charles Wallace for India scholarship to pursue a post-graduate diploma in Special Education at the University of London. Following this, she worked in the child protection services of Buckinghamshire County Council, as a radio journalist at the BBC and, most recently, as a film examiner at the British Board of Film Classification in London.

Jaishree has written seven novels, published by Penguin and Harper Collins, all of which have been Indian bestsellers. Her most recent book deal, with Harper Collins in the UK, was to write three commercial fiction novels. Secrets & Lies, published in July 2009, appeared soon after its release in the Heatseekers list of the UK charts. Secrets & Sins was released in August 2010 and A Scandalous Secret in July 2011. She has taken part in literary festivals at Jaipur, Hay-on-Wye, Hay Trivandrum, Kovalam, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Johannesburg and has participated at book fairs in Frankfurt, London and Sharjah.

Jaishree has an MA in English Literature from Kerala University and two post-graduate diplomas from the University of London, one in Special Education and the other in Broadcast Journalism. She recently moved back to New Delhi, where she is continuing to write alongside helping to develop a large integrated residential community for people with disabilities.
